My 9: What I have stashed in my makeup bag
Confession: One of my favorite pages to scour in celeb magazines is where stars open up their bags and do a big reveal of what’s in there. Of course it’s always perfectly edited so there’s nothing embarrassing but I love seeing the beauty stuff they carry anyway. Since I’m as product-obsessed as the best of them, I figured it was time for me to go transparent on what I’ve always got stashed in my makeup bag. The secret to what makes the cut? I love products that do double-duty so there’s less to carry.
Must-have number one! A travel-size version of your favorite scent. I am a huge Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb Eau de Parfum fan so that’s what’s with me these days. The scent is sexy, fun and flirty, with Sambac Jasmine, Centifolia Rose, Cattleya Orchid and Ballerina Freesia bloom on a base of patchouli.
Must-have number two! A great nude lipstick that can take you from a business meeting to a night out (just add a dramatic eye). Loving the new Kylie Cosmetics Silver Series Angel Cake Crème Lipstick is that perfect nude pink for kissable lips—as in, no serious color to smear!
Must-have number three! Hourglass’s 5-shadow palette is so great to carry on the go. It has all the shades you need, in mix of matte and metallic, for whatever look you’re after. Love the darker ones; I use them as eye liner. That’s one less product to carry!
Must-have number four! Having a pop of color on your cheeks is a must to look fresh and awake. My fave, hands down, is The Beauty Spy’s Chosungah Cotton Cheek Color. Small enough to tote around, its creamy formula is lightweight and dewy and applies smoothly with a great little soft-puff dome applicator. No need for a brush!
Must-have number five! Powder is my passion, yes, I said it! Obsessed, I am. It’s with me everywhere and I truly never leave home without it. That’s because it’s essential for quick touch ups and mattifying the skin. My current love is MakeUp Forever ProFinish Multi-Use Powder. If you need more coverage, it works as a foundation and for less coverage, it’s a perfect “pat where you need it” find.
Must-have number six! Lips tend to get dry, especially during a winter that’s been as harsh as this one in so many places, and especially during flights. So I always have Maybelline Baby Lips sheer pink ultra-hydrating lip balm on hand. (Or, on lip!)
Must-have number seven! Our Color & Lift To Go hair liner pens are crucial for me to carry. I always seem to have a rogue gray hair that peaks up at the most inopportune moments and this makes it go away in seconds. We designed it specifically to fit right in your makeup bag and to be mess-free.
Must-have number eight! I think it’s always smart to carry a concealer with you; if you look tired at the end of the day (or even at the start!) you can pop a little under your eyes and no one’s the wiser. The Kylie Cosmetics Skin Concealer in the shade family Medium that I use is lightweight, super-hydrating and covers anything you’d rather not share with the world. All while leaving your skin looking like skin, not a mask.
Must-have number nine! Mini Altoids…need I say more?!?
